Book Summary:

Is there a problem, Officer?

Jack Garrett isn’t a police officer yet, but there’s already an emergency. His new firearms instructor—the one who just dropped every jaw in the academy gym—is the same sexy Irish stranger Jack locked lips with last night. The Olympic gold medalist and expert markswoman is now officially off-limits, but Jack’s never cared much for rules . . .

Katie McCoy’s been cooped up in a shooting range for too long. A wild love affair is just what she needs to let loose, though she never imagined it would be with her smokin’ hot trainee. She cannot get involved with Jack—but a quick fling? Perfect. Falling hard for a charismatic recruit with an equal amount of sex appeal and secrets? Bloody stupid.

Jack’s charmed the pants off plenty of women (literally), yet few have ever looked beyond his perfect surface. Until Katie. He’ll do anything to keep her in his life . . . except tell her about his past. But a tiny lie of omission never hurt anyone, right?

Book Review:

Jack and Katie are just two characters that have a magnetic appeal. I really love the chemistry that these two individuals have together. Nothing is ever really easy between two people who don’t necessarily have anything in common or so they think. Love the fact that these two individuals have a journey that neither of them expected.

When Jack and Katie meet each other you think that these two characters are not going to get along since both are not what you call each other’s type. I really found Jack to be quite charming and Katie to be driven. Jack is a bit of a person who seems to be interested in Katie at first for a one night stand, then things start to change as he gets to know this wonderful girl. He begins to imagine things changing for him. Also he is always screwing things up. His career at the police academy is in jeopardy and things are not going well. Jack doesn’t know what he will do. Katie showing up in his life definitely throws some new complications into his life.

One of the complications that happens in this book is that she is a visiting officer from Ireland and now his temporary boss and this makes things a bit awkward for him. Given how they spent some time together before this moment and now going forward as she is his superior and helping to train the recruits. This makes things a bit awkward for them.  Now they have to spend time working together and Jack is her subordinate so it makes things a bit more complicated. Besides she is only there for a limited time.

We learn a lot about Jack and Katie’s background. Both have very different backgrounds and experiences growing up. Jack has had a very twisted background as his mother wasn’t the greatest parental role model and Katie has been groomed to go to the Olympics, but she has never wanted to do that. What she really wants to do is something that she loves. Makes and sell purses.

This relationship seems so wrong, but they both find themselves becoming better versions of themselves. I really like how Jack starts to realize that he needs help and starts getting better because of what happens between him and Katie. Katie also helps him at the academy. He is really trying to be better. His performance starts to improve and so does Jack’s attitude because Katie makes him want to be a better man. I love this side that Katie brings out in him.

Everything in this book works out in the end for both of these characters because they realize how much they need one another. Katie manages thanks to Charlie a 90 Day Extension on her visa. I thought that these two wonderful human beings worked so hard for one another to be the kind of person each one of them deserve. Plus the happy ending made me happy. The romance was superb in this book.

I really am looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book in this series.
