Book Summary:
Taran Wird, who commands the power to wield fire and lightning, is an oddity in the supernatural world. But neither Taran nor her unique sisters compare to the bizarre entity known as Destiny. And Taran is assigned to protect her.
Born of two witches, Destiny is revered among the supernatural elite for her acute ability to predict the future. Her biggest prophecy involves Taran’s sister, Celia, whom Destiny decreed will bear children strong enough to take on the evil that’s rising. Yet Destiny is not alone in her predictions, or individuality.
When Johnny Fate, a rock star among humans and a male version of Destiny is discovered, his powers and Destiny’s clash, triggering the start of Destiny’s demise and altering the fate of Celia’s unborn children.
Taran, her werewolf lover Gemini, and their allies must determine if it’s Fate who will decide what will become of Celia’s children, or if their lives and the world will perish with Destiny.
Book Review:
Taran definitely finds herself in situations that she never thought possible. I like how Taran seems to be much more comfortable with her circumstances and life. Love that Taran is definitely not going to go down without a fight.
Love how Gemini and Taran are definitely back together and we find that there are things coming that no one can see coming. What I like is how we get a lot more info about Destiny in this book. Also we learn that Celia’s soon to be born children are going to be important. Yet we get introduced to a new character, Johnny Fate who is a rock star. I like the fact that we meet someone who is very new to the paranormal world.
Johnny Fate is a character who at first you don’t know what to make of him. There is a lot of chaos that happens. We learn that Johnny Fate is the opposite of Destiny. That Destiny and Fate should not co-exist. There is a lot of bad things happening. Also because of Destiny and Fate meeting, Destiny falls really ill and starts to die, and Tye who happens to be Destiny’s mate wants to kill Johnny who doesn’t understand why this is happening to him. Not to mention, he shouldn’t even be alive. We get a history as to why having a Destiny and Fate co-exist has never happened. This is definitely not good. Some of the paranormals want to kill him because they think it will make Destiny better, others say do not kill him, since he hasn’t done anything wrong. Others say all the bad things that have happened in the world is because having a Destiny and Fate co-exist. Usually when this happens, one is killed immediately so they don’t end up causing bad shit to happen. So this changes things immensely.
Johnny also has tattoos on his body which become real animals and creatures. They are like his friends as well. We get a lot of his background because Taran is helping him become adjusted. She is trying to help him adjust to his new reality about living in this crazy paranormal world. People literally are trying to decide his fate. Of course things never go well. We learn that there are people who literally want to kill him and some that will want to use him for their own sinister purposes. Plus if Destiny goes, he will take over Destiny’s role. This is something that no one saw coming.
There are a lot of twists and turns like I expect from this series. What’s interesting is that the Vampires and Misha come to cause some of the most intense moments in this book. There’s a scene that you literally were not expecting. Fate’s magic, Taran’s magic, and Misha’s magic interact in a way no one saw coming and it causes major drama. Also things happen that make you see something bad coming. People are getting killed. Johnny’s band mates and manager get killed.
We also learn near the end of the book, after getting a warning from a dying Destiny that Fate has been manipulating everything from the start. Plus Celia’s children are in danger if Fate is allowed to live. He has been siphoning Destiny’s power into himself through a tattoo. Johnny thinks he is going to be able to do what he wants not realizing that Taran is more powerful and does some incredible magic in this book and what she does is pretty awesome. A really good book. We also learn she defeats him, but somehow one of the tattoos, the peacock flies away with his body. Guess we will see if Johnny Fate returns.
Overall a very good book in the series. I liked it.
