Olivia Townsend is in trouble and out of options. Pursued by a desperate man in search of a lost treasure, which she doesn’t have, she’s got only two things in her favor: her late husband’s diary, which she was never meant to see … and the man who was her first-and-only-love. Losing him broke her heart, though she’s been careful to hide it for the last ten years. But when he comes to her aid and vows to stand by her this time, no matter what, she can’t help but hope things will be different this time.

James Weston has blamed himself for letting Olivia down when she needed him years ago, and he will not do it again. Fortunately, his unusual life has equipped him well to outsmart the villain chasing Olivia. Unfortunately, being so near her again threatens to expose every secret in his heart…even those that should stay hidden forever.

Book Review:

I totally loved this story. This book has two characters who just are so much fun to read and see what their lives are like since they last new one another I love how something that neither of them sees coming brings them back together.

Olivia Townsend and James Weston were very young teenagers the last time they saw one another. The book explores what happen to make them go their separate ways after things went wrong and that promises were not kept. Also Olivia was forced to marry a man she didn’t want to marry, yet did because of her youthful mistake.

So we go forward ten years and we see that Olivia’s husband has died and things get interesting. She goes to a solicitor and finds that many of her late husband’s belongings have been destroy. The solicitor wants her to return her husbands diary and that she was never supposed to have it. She refuses to give the solicitor the diary. Olivia is upset that this solicitor has destroyed her husbands property. So when she doesn’t give the solicitor what he wants, someone named Lord Clary decides to take matters into his own hands. Lord Clary wants her husband’s journal for some weird and unknown reason to Olivia. Olivia ends up meeting up with James Weston.

James and Olivia see one another and they have a lot of problems that need to be solved. James is also wanting to see Lord Clary put behind bars because he has had some issues with James sister Penelope. So the things that Clary is doing to Olivia is making him ill. We learn that Olivia’s husband had some shady business dealings with quite some nefarious people. We learn that he was in the smuggling business. So this is how he managed to afford the lifestyle that he was living and not to mention this made him get in contact with certain people who wanted these items of great value.

I really like how close James and Olivia Get in this book. They really seem to be hitting it off a lot in this book. They also start to get to know one another again and what their lives have been like apart and how both of them wish things had gone differently. Olivia has also kept in touch with James sister Penelope who happens to be married to a prominent duke. James brother in law is also helping them to find the evidence as he has been cataloging items that have been smuggled. So  things happen that no one sees.

Olivia and James using the clues that are in her late husband’s diary and other information that they find from other characters, both of them working together find a certain valuable object that no one thought existed. This piece is very rare and people would pay a lot of money for this. They want to return this object to it’s rightful owner or hand it over to the authorities, so that Clary will not be able to harass Olivia anymore or anybody else. They also get a lot closer and end up finding their old feelings being rekindled.

The one thing that I enjoyed about the ending was the both Olivia and James ended up finding themselves together. I really like how both of them came together and found that they were stronger together and found something new and stronger than what they had before. This was a good solid romance.
