Book Summary:

Lauren Hastings is finally ready to enter the real world. At twenty-six, she’s about to get her master’s in psychology, and she’s well on her way to beginning the career of her dreams—until she suffers public humiliation and has to endure something she thought she’d never have to deal with again: a part-time job.

A gig at Trinity Hospital isn’t exactly Lauren’s definition of a good time, but Dr. Scott Jacobs quickly changes her mind. He’s straight-up gorgeous, and he always gets what he wants. And that includes Lauren. It’s an ideal arrangement for both of them. No strings. Just fun—at least at first.

But feelings quickly begin to run deeper than either Lauren or Scott is willing to admit, causing issues neither of them want to confront. After all, who wants to risk the perfect relationship on something as terrifying, as messy, and as unpredictable as love?

Book Review:

Deliciously fun romance that really had me hooked from start to finish. Both Lauren and Scott have some issues, but their issues seem not to be bad at first, but they both have to deal with them in different ways while falling for each other.

I like how we start the book with Lauren and how she is out with her friends and gets into an altercation with some idiot at a bar and mayhem breaks out. Of course, nothing ever goes as planned and she is forced to pay for the damages because of the fight that erupted at the bar. Her mother tells her that she will have to work at Trinity Hospital, which is where her mother works and also her mother’s boss Scott Jacobs. Scott at first seems like he is a little uptight and obnoxious but we quickly learn that he also has things he is dealing with.
The fact that he gives Lauren a chance at all means that he is someone who is willing to give this young woman something she needs, a job to help her pay back the bar owner for the damage that was caused in the fight.  So Lauren has to work in this hospital and finds that it’s really good. She especially likes working at the hospital more than she thought. Lauren finds that working with Kids and her co-workers is interesting. Plus she learns a lot about herself and the type of things she needs.

We also find that Scott likes Lauren a lot more than he thought possible. He knows that he shouldn’t pursue a relationship with her, but there’s something different about her, than what he is used to. Lauren is a challenge and much younger, but he really likes her and they find themselves in a very weird situation. Then they lay out what they both want out of this relationship. Its a situation that at first seems ideal for both of them, but things start to get more intense between them.

Lauren starts school and gets really into her psychology class and it helps her with things. There are of course things that relate to her life and she tends to apply them to her real life. Lauren and Scott have very hot sex, but somehow like most things happen, the relationship evolves in many different ways.  Plus both Scott and Lauren have to deal with things that have happened in their past.

Lauren and Scott talk a lot about their families and things that they both had to deal with some bad decisions that were made. We learn that Scott has a lot of issues regarding his mother and brother. Plus he is also going to therapy and his therapist is someone who kicks him in the ass when necessary. Both of them are hot tempered and they get into a fight or someone thinks that things get a little too serious, but relationships can get much more deep and emotional. For some people that’s wonderful. Other times that can be scary.

I love how both Lauren and Scott work through their issues. Their issues are intense and have helped shaped them and made them both fight harder for what they want and what they are not going to take. Nothing less than 100% honesty for this couple. I really enjoyed the way that everyone told Scott not to be an idiot and to go after the woman he really wants and not to be scared, but to embrace his feelings. He does fight for her and they end up having a happily ever after of their own.

I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more books by this author.
