Book Summary:

Two groups of paranormally talented investigators discover that the Eterna compound—thought to be the key to immortality—is, instead, a powerful protective charm. That protection is sorely needed, for both England and the U.S. are under attack by dark forces.

Having vanquished the demonic pretender to the British throne, the now-united forces of the Eterna Commission and the Omega Department reach America ready to take on a new menace. But like the United States itself, this evil is rapidly spreading from sea to shining sea. Will the new magic our heroes have discovered be strong enough to defeat it?

Book Review:

All series must come to an end. I thought the conclusion to this series was excellent and well paced. Loved everything about the way this book takes what has happened and expanded and also helps to wrap things up for all of our characters.

One of the things that I like is that we get a character who is orchestrating some more devious plots since the villain died in the last book. This is someone who was a disciple of this person. They have goals in mind and don’t care about the consequences and is willing to commit murder people to accomplish their goals. We also learn that there are new things and buildings and inventions being built in New York. New York definitely has a lot of things happening. I like that we are getting progress.

Clara has become a much more assertive character and really has come into her own. Her abilities have given her some trouble in the past, but yet they are what helps Eterna learn things. I also like how both groups are working together to solve things and go to the places that they need to, to help stop things that seem different or suspicious in a way. Plus not to mention their seems to be that people are getting together and starting to have relationships outside of Eterna and live their lives in a way that they thought never possible. Clara is also starting to take charge of her romantic life. I enjoyed the scenes between Clara and her guardian a lot more than I thought that I would. Plus you get to see a real loving mature relationship start to form between these two characters. I really enjoyed seeing that in this book. Also things are started to come to a head with other characters as well.

I found that the person who is the one causing all the problems is a woman this time, kind of refreshing and a bit of a risk sometimes. You actually do not like this character from the moment you first meet her in the book. She is a very wicked person and has done things  you can’t even imagine. Plus she feels like she needs to control her husband as well, as he is starting to become curious. I like the way her arc came across in this book. She was an excellent foe for our heroes and really pushes their abilities to the limit.

One of the things that I love about the way this finale part of this series, how well everything was paced. The Romance was excellently written. The powers were an essential part. Also the fact that the world and technology is progressing and how that affects New York and our heroes world in new and unexpected ways. I love the happy ending that Clara got. Also the way it ended makes me wonder if there will be a spin off series.

A superb ending that makes you believe in heroes and that there is something good to happen if you are willing to work and fight for it.
